about

TJUPURRU
Brisbane-based Tjupurru is a proud descendant of the Djabera Djabera tribe of the West Australian Kimberleys. Born in Port Moresby Papua New Guinea and settling in Cairns, Tjupurru began playing Didgeridoo through a vacuum cleaner pipe in boarding school. His real love affair with the instrument came when he discovered the music of iconic Australian act Gondwanaland, and didgeridoo player Charlie McMahon in particular.

Tjupurru plays a unique slide Didgeridoo invented by Charlie McMahon, named "The Didjeribone" because it can slide through different notes and tones - a cross between a didgeridoo and a trombone. He picks up his sound through a device called the "Face Bass", a seismic sensor implanted inside his mouth. With the addition of sampling and electronic effects, Tjupurru has enabled himself to perform as a one man band creating live samples and looping them to create songs and soundscapes that criss-cross musical genre.

His live show is a must see. This is an artist bringing something unique to the current music scene. Tjupurru is mixing cultures, technologies and sounds from over thousands of years to serve up and dish out what he describes as 21st century Didjetronica.

ABDUL HAMMOUD
Abdul Hammoud is a spoken word artist based in Melbourne by way of Lebanon, a country that he is still captivates by and connects to. Recently finding his feet in the spoken word scene, Abdul has performed alongside poetic giants like Luka Lesson, Ken Arkind, Anis Mojgani, Sarah Kay, Taylor Mali and Shihan. His art has taken him as close as New Zealand and as far as the United States. Most of his work revolves around current issues including the constant state of war in the Middle East, cultural division, as well as the portrayal of masculinity. He is also a full time student and an avid purveyor of starting books but not finishing them.

EFIQ ZULFIQAR
Efiq Zulfiqar is a superb musician, composer and graphic designer from Bandung, West Java - Indonesia. He has performed with Indonesian contemporary fusion bands like Krakatau, Jugala All Stars and Sambasunda. Efiq has had highly successful tours to Indonesia, UK, Europe, Taiwan, Malaysia, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. His interest in music and arts began at an early age and he went to study traditional music at the Conservatorium in Bandung and Bali. His talent and love for native Sundanese culture is evident in his compositions. Since moving to Australia, he has been experimenting with and performing his solo compositions and collaborating with local and visiting musicians.
