The inspiration for Awakening came from my own awakening as well as call out for a higher state of consciousness in humanity at large. I believe that music has the power to bring people together, to transcend divides in culture, religion and race and this notion is at the heart of my songwriting.

Awakening channels this ideology not only through the meaning of the lyrics but its diverse tapestry of musical influences, weaving threads of Macedonian lyrics, traditional ⅞ rhythm and melodic bass line, Spanish flamenco claps and cajon, vocals performed by Aboriginal and Macedonian artists and Tarantino-esque guitar and synth to add to that perfect East meets West sound.

Marija lives by the motto, ASPIRE TO INSPIRE BEFORE YOU EXPIRE and would like to do just that through her music.
